The BlockTalk project continues under heavy development, and has plowed through a succession of milestones, which we will go over below. Blocktalk is on its way to being the main framework for creating smart contracts in Java on the Burst blockchain.

We are proud to announce that Milestone 3, 4 and 6 are reached, and paid to the development team.

The vision of BlockTalk is to have a state-of-the-art and easy-to-deploy framework for smart contracts (see announcement of BlockTalk). The decision was made to use Java as the first high-level language implemented in this framework. (see Bounty announcement for BlockTalk).

Milestone 3,4 & 6 reached in the last weeks!

Milestone 3 – BlockTalk CIYAM compiler

The goal of this milestone was to enable the program to create CIYAM bytecode, which can be run on the Burst blockchain, translated from the Java smart contract in BlockTalk.

100,000 BURST was paid out to the development (Payment-Link)

Milestone 4 – BlockTalk ABI specifications

The goal of this milestone was to create an ABI ( Application Binary Interface) for BlockTalk function calls. Enabling the “external world” to call functions on the smart contract which runs on Burstcoin blockchain by encoded messages.

100,000 BURST was paid out to the development (Payment-Link)

Milestone 6 – CIYAM compiler with ABI implemented and tested

The goal of this milestone was to handle the ABI specifications within the CIYAM compiler and implement tests for external function calls with up to 3 arguments.

150,000 BURST was paid out to the development (Payment-Link)

As a high-level overview, the following parts in green are done, and in orange, in-progress :

We invite any interested Java-developer to check the code on the BlockTalk-github and play with the smartcontract-Tesnet. The smartcontract-Testnet can be reached via an online-wallet and a faucet is installed to get 5,000 BURST as often as you like.

Although the project is already underway, anyone who would like to join the project is welcome, and should send a contact request to frank_the_tank on discord.

For more information on BlockTalk, see also CIP20 and the community call for smart-contract ideas.

We look forward to seeing people using BlockTalk in the near future for their own smart-contracts on the BURST blockchain.
